BA, Grad Dip Soc Sc, BA (Hons.Psych), MPsych (Clin)

About Me: I am a Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years’ experience supporting individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of mental health and relationship concerns. Alongside degrees in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Science, and Theology, my professional life has also been shaped by real-world experience and what many would call “the school of hard knocks.”

I continue to enjoy my work and value building strong rapport with my clients. My approach is practical, thoughtful, and evidence-based, drawing from therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Schema Therapy.

Over the years, I have worked across numerous areas of mental health including Community Mental Health, psychiatric services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Alcohol and Other Drugs, and relationship counselling. I have also supervised graduate psychologists and Clinical Psychology Registrars from Universities across South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland, and have worked as the preferred Clinical Psychologist for an AFL club.

I have particular interests in men’s mental health, alcohol-related difficulties, trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, phobias, obsessive thinking, jealousy, insecurity, anger managment, stress, and relationship difficulties.

I am especially passionate about providing high quality Psychological support to regional and remote Australians. Services are provided through telehealth as well as regional in-person visits across South Australia, with a strong appreciation for the realities, pressures, and strengths of life beyond the major cities. I have previously run a clinic in Coober Pedy.

Outside of psychology, I enjoy time in the bush, four-wheel driving, camping, bird photography, and spending time with my wife and four daughters. My photography can be found on Instagram at @birding_with_simon.

People from a wide range of backgrounds and communities often describe me as approachable, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to, and I strive to create a space where people feel respected, understood, and safe.
