Simon is a Clinical Psychologist who has provided counselling and psychotherapy for over 20 years. Simon can help you with the following issues:
Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorders, Alcohol problems (binging & dependency), Obsessional Thinking (letting go of bad, weird, embarrassing & distressing thoughts), Jealousy, Shyness and Social Anxieties, issues concerning Men’s Mental Health, Perfectionism, Specific Phobias (such as the fear of heights, flying, needles, blood, dental surgery), Anger Management, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Surviving Trauma, the abuse of Prescription Medications, Compulsive Lying, amongst other things.
Simon devotes a portion of his time to relationship counselling. He borrows heavily from Gottmans’ Couples Therapy, which is an evidence-based approach to resolving relationship issues. Simon has considerable experience helping couples through infidelity, problematic anger, and resuming a healthy sex life.
Simon is married, has four children and enjoys keeping fit. He enjoys spending time with his family, cycling with his friends, birdwatching and camping, and has a real passion for helping people. Simon feels that his varying life experiences have shaped him into a more effective therapist.
Simon is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. He holds full membership with the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists. As such, Medicare Australia has deemed that Simon be considered a “Specialist Clinical Psychologist”.
Simon has graduate and post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology. He tends to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, Coaching Psychology and Positive Psychology. If necessary, Simon will coach you towards your goals, while at other times he will challenge you and hold you to account.
Simon has worked in a wide range of mental health services in New South Wales prior to moving to Adelaide. These have included: Community Mental Health (Adult Therapy and Acute Teams), Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services, and a psychiatric hospital in Tamworth.
