SILVIA BENOVIC

Silvia is the Director of BlueSky Psychology. She is a Clinical Psychologist who has been offering counselling to individuals and families for around 20 years. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a Fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists of the Australian Psychological Society. She has obtained a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and holds graduate qualifications in counselling, mediation and family and relationship therapy. Her past research has focused on relationship satisfaction, happiness and improving quality of life.
Silvia has worked as a Clinical Psychologist, Counsellor and Family Therapist with adults, children, adolescents and families in a range of organisations in New South Wales, South Australia and the United Kingdom. These settings have included Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Centrelink, employment services, the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Initiative, the University of New England, Youth and Parent Services and a number of family centres. She has also offered counselling at and managed a busy Women’s Health Centre in Parramatta, and consulted for a busy GP Practice in Sydney.
Silvia has experience assessing and treating issues such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, obsessions/compulsions and post-traumatic stress. She has also has considerable experience in treating couple and family problems, child/adolescent behavioural and emotional issues, complex grief reactions, eating disorders and the effects of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. She can assist individuals with stress management, assertiveness, work related concerns, confidence and self-esteem building, as well as improving communication and conflict resolution skills. Her preferred forms of therapy include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy, but she also has training and experience in many other forms of therapy.
Silvia is regularly invited to appear on television as an expert guest, and is frequently quoted in local and National newspapers providing commentary from a Psychological perspective.
